Gain skills as an interprofessional health team simulation facilitator
Save Stan facilitators have access to free training in proven simulation debriefing methods applicable across disciplines. Our trainers have hands-on experience and a proven track record in interprofessional health team education.

As a trained facilitator, you will help students learn to work in teams.
You’ll learn the skills you need to help students communicate effectively, identify the needs of their team, and work respectfully and efficiently with other healthcare professionals. You’ll network with healthcare professionals in an interprofessional environment and work with health sciences students from the four major post-secondary institutions in Edmonton.

What is Save Stan Saturday? HELP! Save Stan is an award-winning event that brings students together for interprofessional health-team learning scenarios. Now in its seventh year, Help! Save Stan is the premier health team simulation learning event for health sciences students in Edmonton.  (video link)

What do our facilitators do?
Facilitators provide student teams with critical feedback on their communication and teamwork skills, and assist them with reflecting on collaboration in an interprofessional health team context.

Who can be a Save Stan facilitator?
  • Health sciences faculty members, instructors, clinical educators and practitioner clinicians
  • Those working in human services such as social work and counselling
  • Community services workers including police and rescue professionals.
The training is free.

What is the time commitment?
Facilitator debriefing workshops are 2 hours. Save Stan is a one day event, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Typically a facilitator will facilitate and debrief one-two simulation(s). Facilitators should plan to attend the full event.
